Boris FX ,Graffiti and Boris Red auf dem Weg

    wenn Du mich zitierst, muß ich dir aus meiener sicht antworten.
    Wenn Du andere ansprichst, mußt du das auch so ausdrücken.
    Sollte aber weiter kein Streitpunkt sein, habe das eigentlich auch mit einem ;) deutlich gekennzeichnet.

    This is not a "new feature" from the new >3.02 upgrade-installer<, the same bug is in the old >3.01 upgrade-installer<
    The friendly Question: .....gives a work around for this issue ?????


    i.e.:.... overwrite the file on D:\ ..... , with the file from C:\ .....????
    with or without the new >BorisRed3.dll< from C:\?????

    Currently, the way installers for Boris Red/FX/Graffiti are set up in such
    a way that it is a two parts install.


    When you install Boris Red (or FX or Graffiti) first it will install the
    "Boris" files like Engine or Keyframer, Keyframe Library, Style Palette,
    docs etc and create a registry entry. By default these will go into Boris
    FX folder created on the system drive (which is most users would
    choose.....though you certainly can ask it to go to another drive). Then it
    will look for the plug-in install for the host & will install it inside
    editing host's plug-in folder.....whichever drive it is on.


    So, when a patch, like Red 3.0.2, is run it will first look to update the
    Engine for which it will look on the system drive and will update it & then
    look for the plug-in to be patched....which either it will find it or you
    may have to browse for it.....it does not matter what drive the editing
    host/plug-in folder is on. So, if the Red Engine (alongwith Keyframe
    Library etc) is also installed on another non-system drive it will not
    find/update it but instead will put in a new Red Engine etc. Like Hans says
    you can copy/paste the dll files but I would be weary of messing with
    directories unless one knows what exactly is being copied/moved etc.


    The best thing to do is to install the first part of install (Red Engine,
    Keyframe Library etc) from the cd onto the system drive by default &, of
    course, install the plug-ins into the editing host's plug-ins folder
    whichever drive it is on. Then the patch should do proper updating
    automatically.


    I have run it by QA/Engineering for future releases but the changes may not
    be easy to implement.
